Sonia LeRoy's 22 years of investment experience and advanced financial training ideally position her and her team to specialize in providing customized wealth planning and risk management advice to affluent families, with a focus on investment tax efficiency, retirement planning and succession planning strategies. Sonia and her team are committed to excellence and to single-mindedly achieving clients' objectives, providing innovative financial solutions to guide clients toward achieving financial peace of mind.

After obtaining an honours degree in economics from Carleton University in 1989 Sonia followed in her late grandmother's footsteps, pursuing her love of finance to offer independent financial advice to Canadian families. She became an owner of Money Concepts Ottawa Central, later, Independent Planning Group Ottawa Central, along with partners Jim Young and Ron Harvey. Sonia and her partners continue to own and manage their financial planning office on Carling Avenue in Ottawa and, in addition, is also a shareholder of IPG Inc.

Sonia has long been dedicated to a high level of on-going professional development. As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Registered Financial Planner (RFP) she continues to develop her expertise and commitment through her memberships to the Financial Planning Standards Council of Canada, Advocis and the Institute of Advanced Financial Planning. She specializes in providing solutions which integrate socially responsible investments, and is a member of the Social Investment Organization. Sonia has served as a board member of the Ottawa chapter of the Canadian Association of Financial Planners.

Sonia is committed to many charitable causes, and is particularly interested in supporting education initiatives in developing countries and here at home as well as organizations committed to intelligently advancing global social justice. Independent Planning Group Inc. awarded Sonia the Philanthropy and Volunteer Award in 2007. Currently, she serves on the board of the Charles F. Johnston Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to funding and promoting several worthy African education projects, including Maison de la Gare, a Senegalese endeavor particularly dear to Sonia's heart.

Sonia lives in Ottawa with her husband Robin, her two children Rowan and Robbie, and their cat Bagheera. She is the first of six children within a large and supportive extended family, which gathers regularly at the family cottage compound in the Haliburton Highlands to enjoy each others' company and pursue the family hobby of making the best maple syrup in Ontario. Sonia also loves to spend time with her family in Algonquin Park, canoeing and exploring some of the wilder parts of the province.
